Selfish Driver
All of our fire engines were open cabs. They didn’t have a roof on them. They were designed that way so that when you got to a fire, you could stand up and see what was going on a little bit better.
This one night, it was raining like heck. Being open cab, the seats, the dash, everything got soaking wet. We had this good fire and I went in to see what was going on. As I was getting out of the rig, the Captain suggested that I put the debris carriers over the seats to keep the water off. Well, I did, but I just put it on my side and left his open. So when he got back to the rig, his side was not covered and he had to ride all the way back home on the wet seat. He was wet from the rain anyway, and so was I. But it was funny when we got back to the rig and he saw his side open and my side covered.
