Big Rigs on Small Trails
A lot of times on wildland fires, you are going in over rough terrain. A couple of times we came close to turning the fire engine over, because it was so steep. We would be crossing over the side of a hill and you could feel the rig leaning over so much that it was about to tip. You had to make a sharp turn and go down the hill to keep from turning over.
In fact, one time a Captain took a rope and tied his rig to a tree and waited for a tow truck to come because he was so worried about his rig tipping over. Anyway, that happened several times.
