Garden Hose in the Blower

Station 5 was a good crew. We had a lot of fun things happen there. At the time, the fire station didn’t have any air conditioning. None of the stations did. So in the afternoons on hot days, we would set up the high velocity blowers that we would normally use at fires in the front doorway. Then we would open up the rest of the doors and windows and blow air through the station to cool it down.

One afternoon, my assignment was to water the front lawn. They had the blower going out there, and I just couldn’t resist it. I took the garden hose and I shoved it right into the intake side of that fan. It blew a big fog of water right into the bullpen of the fire station where everyone was sitting. I got every one of them wet with just that little bit of water. So that was fun, but then I had to watch out for retaliation.
